How ANZ statements are read

Empty cells can say blank

On some ANZ statements the money column a row does not use holds the word blank in the PDF's text, so copying the table out brings that word along with the figures. Descriptions run over several lines and end with EFFECTIVE DATE when the transaction was made on an earlier day. The converter takes the direction from the column the amount sits in and joins each row's lines into one description.

Two or three months per statement

ANZ statements run from a date in one month to about the same date two or three months later, such as 22 January to 22 March or 8 March to 7 June. The CSV keeps every row with its date; the spending report cuts the statement into one statement per calendar month.

Parse ANZ statements in your own app

Send the PDF to the StatementBear API and get JSON back: every transaction with its direction and category, the account it belongs to, and a check that the totals reconcile. No bank login, no template per bank. The first 25 documents are free, then $0.49 each.
