How CommBank statements are read
Every balance carries CR
Each amount sits under Debit or Credit, and the running Balance ends in CR while the account is in credit, or DR when it is overdrawn. The marker describes the balance and says nothing about which way that row went. The converter takes each row's direction from the column its amount sits in.
Six months in one statement
A personal CommBank account statement can cover six months. Rows print the day and month only (02 Jul), and the year appears on the opening balance line. The CSV gives every row its full date, and the spending report cuts the statement into one statement per calendar month.
Parse CommBank statements in your own app
Send the PDF to the StatementBear API and get JSON back: every transaction with its direction and category, the account it belongs to, and a check that the totals reconcile. No bank login, no template per bank. The first 25 documents are free, then $0.49 each.
Statements from other banks
