How NAB statements are read
Balances are marked Cr or Dr
Amounts sit under Debits or Credits, and the running Balance carries Cr while the account is in credit and Dr when it is overdrawn. The table opens with a Brought forward row holding the balance from the last statement. The converter takes each row's direction from its column and reads Brought forward as the opening balance.
Dots between description and amount
NAB fills the gap between each row's Particulars and its figures with a line of dots. A long payer name takes the first line and its reference number starts the second, where the dots begin. The converter joins the two lines into one description and reads across the dots to the column the amount sits in.
Parse NAB statements in your own app
Send the PDF to the StatementBear API and get JSON back: every transaction with its direction and category, the account it belongs to, and a check that the totals reconcile. No bank login, no template per bank. The first 25 documents are free, then $0.49 each.
