How Barclays statements are read
Money out and money in are separate columns
Amounts sit under Money out or Money in, with a running Balance beside them. The column decides the direction, so nothing depends on how the payment is described.
Descriptions wrap over several lines
A row starts with the payment type, such as Card Payment to, Direct Debit to or Received From, and continues with the payee and a reference underneath. Those lines are joined back into one description.
Parse Barclays statements in your own app
Send the PDF to the StatementBear API and get JSON back: every transaction with its direction and category, the account it belongs to, and a check that the totals reconcile. No bank login, no template per bank. The first 25 documents are free, then $0.49 each.
