How Halifax statements are read
Payment type codes
Rows carry codes like DEB, DD, SO, FPO, FPI and BGC. They stay in the description so you can filter on them, and the money columns decide whether each row is money in or out.
Statements by period
A Halifax statement can cover a period that does not start on the 1st. Each row keeps its own date, so totals by calendar month still work.
Parse Halifax statements in your own app
Send the PDF to the StatementBear API and get JSON back: every transaction with its direction and category, the account it belongs to, and a check that the totals reconcile. No bank login, no template per bank. The first 25 documents are free, then $0.49 each.
Statements from other banks
