How Nationwide statements are read

Out, in and balance columns

Amounts sit in an out column or an in column next to the running balance. The converter reads the column, so a refund from a shop is money in even though its description names a shop.

Contactless and card payments are described the same way

Card spending is listed under the shop's name with the payment method alongside it. Each comes out as one row with a category, so you can see where the money went without reading every line.

Parse Nationwide statements in your own app

Send the PDF to the StatementBear API and get JSON back: every transaction with its direction and category, the account it belongs to, and a check that the totals reconcile. No bank login, no template per bank. The first 25 documents are free, then $0.49 each.
