How Bank of America statements are read

Money in and money out are separate tables

Deposits and other additions, Withdrawals and other subtractions, Checks and Service fees each get their own table with their own subtotal. The converter merges them back into one list in date order and keeps the direction each table implied.

Checks are listed by number

Paid checks are printed as a check number and an amount with no payee. They come through as rows like any other, with the check number as the description, so the totals still balance.

Parse Bank of America statements in your own app

Send the PDF to the StatementBear API and get JSON back: every transaction with its direction and category, the account it belongs to, and a check that the totals reconcile. No bank login, no template per bank. The first 25 documents are free, then $0.49 each.
