How Citi statements are read
Payments and purchases are separate sections
Payments, Credits and Adjustments are listed apart from Standard Purchases, and the credits carry a minus sign. The export keeps one row per transaction with an explicit direction, so a refund reduces spending and a payment is marked as a card repayment.
Billing periods do not follow the calendar
A Citi statement closes on its billing date, so one PDF usually spans two months. Every row keeps its own transaction date, so you can total by calendar month yourself.
Parse Citi statements in your own app
Send the PDF to the StatementBear API and get JSON back: every transaction with its direction and category, the account it belongs to, and a check that the totals reconcile. No bank login, no template per bank. The first 25 documents are free, then $0.49 each.
