How U.S. Bank statements are read

Withdrawals carry a trailing minus

Deposits, Card Withdrawals, Other Withdrawals and checks each get their own section and total, and every withdrawal is printed with the minus after the number: 47.68-. The converter reads the section and the sign together, so each row comes out with the right direction.

One card purchase, three lines

A card purchase is printed as Debit Purchase and the merchant, then a line with the purchase date and a reference number, then the masked card number. Those lines are joined back into one row, so a reference line is never read as a second transaction.

Parse U.S. Bank statements in your own app

Send the PDF to the StatementBear API and get JSON back: every transaction with its direction and category, the account it belongs to, and a check that the totals reconcile. No bank login, no template per bank. The first 25 documents are free, then $0.49 each.
